MIDLAND — Former Gov. Jennifer Granholm has a new gig with the Dow
Chemical Co.
Granholm on Thursday was named the newest member of the Dow Chemical Co. board
of directors.
Serving on the board, which meets six times per year, will be a paid position
for Granholm. According to the 2010 Dow Chemical proxy statement, members on the
board of directors made between $150,000 and $200,000.
The news of Granholm's election to the Dow Chemical Board of Directors follows a
Wednesday announcement that the Democrat would serve as a senior advisor for The
Pew Charitable Trusts' efforts to promote clean energy policies that create
jobs, stimulate innovation, spur investments and enhance America's
competitiveness in the global clean energy race.
Since leaving the office of governor, Granholm has also taken on the role of
professor of law and public policy at the University of California-Berkeley and
a regular contributor to NBC's "Meet the Press."
“Jennifer Granholm’s experience and perspective will be instrumental as we
continue to advocate for national and international policies that drive
innovation, increase productivity, encourage investments in technology and
create jobs,” said Andrew N. Liveris, Dow’s chairman and chief executive officer
in a prepared statement. “During her tenure as governor, Granholm launched
initiatives focused on diversifying and transforming the state’s economy by
adding new, emerging sectors such as clean energy to Michigan’s economic
portfolio, as well as creating jobs and training Michigan’s workers to promote
the state’s long-term economic health."
In his statement, Liveris said Granholm has a demonstrated track record of
cultivating many successful public and private sector collaborations that have
laid the groundwork for profitable and sustainable growth for 21st century
manufacturing.
